We are based in Carrington Kirk, which is situated in the conservation village of Carrington, on the outskirts of Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh, and not far from the world-famous Roslin Institute where Dolly the Sheep – the world’s first cloned mammal – was born.

The earliest mention of the parish of Carrington occurs in connection with its church, Carrington Kirk, which was in existence at the time of David 1 (1124 – 1153).   The current building is a beautiful 1710 structure, set on the edge of rolling farmland, with views of Edinburgh’s striking skyline and the sea beyond.

From Edinburgh City Centre:

  • Follow signs for the A7 South past the city’s major hospital / University of Edinburgh Medical School on to the large Sheriffhall Roundabout, where the City Bypass, A7 and A68 trunk roads converge
  • Take the exit for the A7 South
  • Go straight over at the next 4 roundabouts
  • The road very quickly then bends slightly right and then just as it starts to bend slightly left again you will see a small sign to the right for Carrington, with a big viaduct on your right hand side.
  • Turn right onto the road to Carrington which goes immediately under the viaduct and on for approx 3 miles, including straight over the junction at Cockpen (with Cockpen Church high up on your right hand side).
  • Continue straight over at Cockpen and follow the road until you come into Carrington (a couple of miles).  As you come into the village the road swings up and then bends to the left.  Just as the road bends to the left you will see a road straight ahead of you, with Carrington Kirk on the right hand side.

From Edinburgh Airport, Glasgow and the West of Scotland

  • Take the motorway M8 to Edinburgh
  • At end of the M8 on the western edge of Edinburgh, take the City Bypass, heading south  / east
  • Take Gilmerton exit, following signs for Eskbank, past Dobbies Garden World on the right hand side
  • At next roundabout turn right onto A7 direction Galashiels.
  • Go straight over at the next 3 roundabouts.
